Om produktet

1/48 U.S. Light Tank M5A1 Stuart

Following from Item 32604 (1/48 U.S. Howitzer Motor Carriage M8), we are delighted to announce the appearance of the U.S. Light Tank M5A1 Stuart (which was developed from the M3 Stuart) in the 1/48 Military Miniature Series.

The light tank M5A1 was developed as the successor of the M3 Stuart, which was America’s first major mass production light tank. Powered by twin V8 gasoline engines, it achieved speeds of up to 58km/h. While it kept the M3 turret, the M5 had a welded hull with updates to the sloped frontal armor and the rear engine deck. After that, M5A1 tanks appeared with an updated turret equipped with a 37mm gun, and they had bigger hatches, rails for track grousers and a 7.62mm machine gun mount.

Around 6,800 M5A1s were produced, and after debuting in North Africa they were deployed on the new Italian and Western Fronts from 1943 and 1944 respectively, using their mobility effectively in reconnaissance and other roles.

Tamiya Scale Models require assembly and painting to achieve their full potential, allowing you to customize the model to your preference.

To build a Tamiya kit, you'll need a few essential tools:

  • Cutting tools such as hobby knives or sprue cutters to remove parts cleanly from the plastic sprues, (e.g., Tamiya #74053 Fine Craft Knife, #74153 Craft Knife II and #74093 Modelers Side Cutter)
  • Adhesives, like plastic cement, to bond parts securely. (e.g., Tamiya #87003 Tamiya Cement 40ml or #87182 Tamiya Extra Thin Cement)
  • Sanding tools, such as sandpaper or files, to smooth out edges and remove mold lines. (e.g., Tamiya #74046 Basic File Set, #87009 Medium Set Abrasives)
  • Paints (acrylic or enamel) and brushes or an airbrush system to bring the model to life with realistic colors.
  • You may want optional tools like tweezers, masking tape, or other tools for added precision.
